Certificates
Everything held in one place, with issue date and validity, rather than as PDFs in an email from two years ago.
Criteria
What was actually required and what was met. A certificate that does not say what it is for is worth very little to the person reading it.
Verification
A link a third party can check without an account, showing current validity rather than only that something was once issued.
Revocation
Certificates can be withdrawn, and verification then says so. Without this, verification only proves an issue event.
Expiry
Where the award has a validity period, shown with warning before it lapses.
Standalone copy
A downloadable version that carries the verification reference, for the people who will always want a PDF.

One user type, and issuing lives elsewhere.
Awarding a certificate is an institutional act tied to a course, so it happens in Online Courses. This app is what the holder carries and what an employer checks.

The limits
What this is not.
The same list we give for every app in the catalogue, because the fastest way to a bad project is a promise made in a meeting that nobody wrote down.
We do not accredit anything
A certificate carries exactly the authority your institution carries. Awarding-body recognition is between you and them, and no software confers it.
It does not issue by itself
Awarding is tied to course completion in Online Courses. This is the holder’s wallet and the verification surface.
Verification proves issuance and validity, nothing more
It confirms this institution awarded this and that it still stands. What the award is worth is a matter for the reader.
It is not a blockchain credential
It is a verifiable record in your database, under your control. If a distributed ledger is a hard requirement, say so at scoping.

How does an employer verify a certificate?
Through a link that needs no account, showing what was awarded, when, and whether it still stands. Confirming current validity matters more than confirming it was once issued.
Can a certificate be withdrawn?
Yes, and verification then says withdrawn. Without revocation, verification proves only that something was issued at some point, which is much weaker than it sounds.

Where are certificates issued?
In Online Courses, on completion criteria you define. Keeping the award next to the evidence for it is what makes it defensible.
Do I get the source code?
