Refunds
Source code cannot be returned, so we make sure you never need to.
Once a repository is in your hands you have it, and no refund can take that back. The honest answer is to be plain about that up front, and to give you every means of deciding before you buy rather than after.
Fixed price, in writing
Want one fitted to your process?
Tell us what you run today. You get a written scope and a fixed price back, not a discovery retainer.
Before you pay
Everything that would normally come after a refund request.
Decide with the software in front of you
- All 72 applications run in full, with realistic data, at no cost
- Every role is switchable, so you see what each person would see
- No account, no email address and no call stands in the way
- The function list on each page is exactly what the build contains
- Ask us anything before paying, including to see a specific screen
Ask us the awkward questions
- Whether it fits a process you are about to describe
- What a change you need would cost, before you commit to the base
- Which parts of your current system will not carry across
- What it costs to run, realistically, on your own infrastructure
- Whether a fitted build is the better buy in your case
The policy
Three situations, three answers.
Before the repository is delivered
A full refund, no reason required and nothing to negotiate. Until the transfer happens you have received nothing, so there is nothing to argue about. Write to us and the payment is reversed.
After delivery
No refund, because the files are with you and cannot be recalled. This is the ordinary position for source code and it is why everything above exists: the previews, the function lists and the offer to answer anything first.
If it is not what we described
A different matter entirely. If the delivered application does not match what the page and the preview said, tell us and we will fix it. If it cannot be brought to what was described, you get your money back, delivered or not.
Fitted and custom work
Priced per project, so refunds follow the project rather than a product.
A fitted build is quoted after a scoping call and invoiced in stages. Work not yet started is refundable in full. Work already delivered and accepted is not, on the same reasoning as above.
If a project stops midway, for any reason on either side, you keep every commit produced to that point and pay only for the stages accepted. You are never left having paid for something you cannot use.
How to raise one
One address, and no form to fill in.
- Write to hello@buyowncode.com with your invoice number
- Say what you expected and what arrived; a screenshot helps more than a paragraph
- We reply within one working day, usually the same day
- An approved refund is returned by the original payment method
- Card and wallet refunds clear in five to ten working days, set by your bank, not us
- If we disagree, you will get the reasoning in writing rather than a policy quotation
Questions
Refunds, without the small print
Not covered here?
Ask a consultant directly. No form to fill in first, and no follow-up sequence.
Book a consultantAll questionsCan I see the code before buying?
You can run the whole application before buying, which tells you more than reading the source would. For a specific file or the schema, ask and we will show you.
What if it does not fit our process after all?
That is what a fitted build is for, and it is usually cheaper than you expect because the base already exists. Ask before you buy and we will tell you honestly whether the template or the fitted route is the better value.
Is the deposit on a custom build refundable?
Until work begins, yes. Once the first stage is underway the deposit covers work already done, and anything unstarted remains refundable.
Do you refund the platform fee if a listing is rejected?
Yes, automatically, without a request.
What if payment went through twice?
Tell us and the duplicate is reversed the same day. That is a mistake, not a refund, and none of the above applies to it.
